Fellow Democrats,
I hope this note finds each of you safe and healthy, as we all adjust to the whirlwind of challenges and change that have come along with COVID 19 virus and our absolute commitment to overcome it.
We took pro-active, early action in mid March to stop the spread and protect our members, staff, and elected officials by cancelling all Alabama Democratic Party sponsored events, and requiring most Party employees to work from home.
Despite the challenges, our staff and volunteers have found ways to keep making good things happen. I am especially proud to report that the Party is now in full compliance with all DNC requirements, our Delegate Selection Plan has been approved, and we are now - for the first time in more than a year - receiving the $10,000/month in party building funds from the DNC. Moreover, we have also received more than $120k in funds that were withheld in previous years for lack of compliance. Folks this is a big deal.
I am also proud of our Democratic Elected Officials who continue to demonstrate real leadership that puts people ahead of politics. Expanding medicaid, vote by mail, and early voting are all on the table thanks to Democrats in the legislature. Our Democratic Mayors, Randall Woodfin, Walt Maddox, and Steven Reed have all taken bold and decisive actions that will save lives.
Thank you again to each of you who are the backbone of the Alabama Democratic Party. Everything we do, we do for you. Stay safe, stay home, and listen to and follow the advice of public health professionals. We're all in this together.
