As the COVID epidemic in Alabama continues to spread and accelerate, it is more important than ever that we be responsible citizens and follow the advice of public health officials, and take the steps necessary to protect our friends, family, and fellow citizens.
It is also more important than ever that our elected leaders follow the advice of the medical experts and not let politics and profits get in the way of good policy that puts the health and safety of people first.
Unfortunately there are worrying signs that the Montgomery insiders and special interests are starting to use their influence to undercut the advice of the medical professionals who are urging prudent steps like those taken by Mayor Woodfin in Birmingham, Mayor Maddox in Tuscaloosa, and those advocated for by Representative Daniels in Huntsville, and Senator Singleton in Hale County.
We urge Governor Ivey and ALL elected officials to make decisions based on the best advice from the health professionals. Please use your voice to demand the same of your elected officials.
This is about people, not politics, and lives depend on it.
