Chairman Randy Kelley on Alabama’s Loss of U.S. Space Command
Montgomery, AL - Alabama Democratic Party Chairman Randy Kelley released the following statement regarding the loss of U.S. Space Command.
“President Biden’s decision to make Colorado the permanent home of Space Command instead the planned move to Huntsville, Alabama has been in no small part due to Senator Tommy Tuberville’s empty protest against our military members’ reproductive freedom. His grandstanding has endangered national security and military readiness with over 270 promotions halted.”
“U.S. officials are rightfully concerned about Alabama’s reproductive health policies and what it would mean for servicemembers stationed here. Alabama’s restrictive abortion laws and the posturing by Senator Tuberville have unintended consequences for Alabamians.”
“This is a devastating loss for the state of Alabama; we take pride in our military facilities and the men and women who live here. This will have a lasting impact on North Alabama and Huntsville, one of the nation’s fastest growing tech cities.”
