Alabama Democrats Hire New Executive Director & Director of Communications
Montgomery, AL - Alabama Democratic Party Chairman Randy Kelley announces the hiring of the positions of Executive Director and Director of Communications.
Tom Miro is the incoming Executive Director of the Alabama Democratic Party.
“The Party has been without an Executive Director for some time. I am confident Tom will make up for that lost time. He’s a young man with broad experience in campaign and political party operations.”
A child of veterans, Tom was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia. After university and graduate studies in Pennsylvania, and before his career in politics, he was a nonprofit advocacy professional in Montgomery, Alabama. He has served as a staff member on a number of large, statewide Democratic campaigns, including Alabama, Arizona, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Kansas, and most recently Kentucky.
He looks forward to bringing his nationwide electoral experience, from some of the most tightly contested races of the decade, to help build the infrastructure and institutional capacity of the Alabama Democratic Party. He holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Masters of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education.
The party also hired Sheena Gamble as the party’s new Director of Communications.
“The Alabama Democratic Party has too many challenges to remain silent. The experience, know-how, and acumen that our new Director of Communications brings to the party is second to none. We will be on the cutting edge of issues confronting the people of Alabama. This party will be both truthful and courageous,” said Kelley.
The daughter of former MLB player Oscar Gamble, Sheena worked for several major media organizations in digital, outdoor, print, and broadcast advertising before forming her own media company, Gamble Advertising. She has managed major media campaigns as well as served as campaign manager of successful legislative and municipal election campaigns.
Sheena holds two Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Alabama in Political Science and Public Relations, a Masters in Advertising and Public Relations with emphasis in Political Communication, and a Juris Doctorate from Faulkner University’s Jones School of Law.
“We are asking all of the members, county chairs, SDEC members, and Democratic Party officials to stand firmly behind our two new employees,” said Kelley. “We ask for their cooperation and support as we build a party for all the people of Alabama.”
