The new ethics laws passed during the December 2010 Special Legislative Session have wiped away a major aspect of party fundraising. Gone are the days when political action committees could play a role in financing our party operations. In the short term, this has presented a challenge. In the long term, this is a tremendous opportunity for us to re-engage the grassroots.
We are devoting significant staff and volunteer resources to growing our small-dollar donor base. For too long Democrats were able to rely on big donors and PACs to shoulder the burden of operating a statewide organization.
From now on, we will be going to each and every Democrat and asking them for a monthly investment as well. Whether it's $2, $5, or $25 per month, building a large pool of monthly investors will help us budget our programs better, will hold us accountable to more Democrats, and will re-energize our base.
Support your party. Sign us as a monthly recurring donor now. $1 a month, $10 a month, $50 a month...each contribution is small, but a lot of small amounts adds up to big money and big gains in 2012 and 2014.
