Jefferson County residents are facing longer lines, ridiculous wait times, and multiple trips around the county just to get access to basic services. Senator Scott Beason's decision to single-handedly kill the Jefferson County home rule bill in the 2011 legislative session has forced Jefferson County to cut pay, lay off workers, and even close courthouses. One top Jefferson County judge has even been forced to seek out private donations to pay jurors just to keep the courts running.
