The news on Sunday that Tom Radney passed away marked a great loss for the Alabama Democratic Party. Tom served for many years as a member of our state executive committee, as a state senator, as our nominee for Lieutenant Governor, and as a mentor and supporter to scores of candidates and officeholders.
‘Big Tom,' as his grandchildren called him, was indeed a big presence in the Alabama Democratic Party and he will be greatly missed. Many a Democrat took heart over the years knowing that a trip or a phone call to Alexander City would result in Tom lending some helpful advice or a word of encouragement.
The thoughts and prayers of the Alabama Democratic Party are with Tom's family and the people of Alexander City during this difficult time.
