Dear friend,
Do you remember watching on television when Governor Mario Cuomo reminded Ronald Reagan that this nation is more a “Tale of Two Cities” than it is “Just a Shining City on a Hill”? That was one of the greatest political speeches ever given and it happened at the 1984 Democratic National Convention. Do you remember watching the 2004 Democratic National Convention? That’s when we met a young state senator from Illinois who reminded us that the audacity of hope was “God’s greatest gift to us, the bedrock of this nation, a belief in things not seen, a belief that there are better days ahead.”
I am inviting you to turn off the television next September and watch the Democratic National Convention in person. Join me in Charlotte, North Carolina September 3-6, 2012 as Democrats make history again and enter the final stretch of the 2012 campaign.
By choosing to run as a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention next September in Charlotte, you will play an important role in the history of our Party and our nation as we re-nominate our President and Vice-President and begin the sprint to November.
All of the information you will need to make your decision can be found at our convention website. The deadline to qualify as a Delegate is 5:00 PM on Friday, January 13, 2012.
This is your convention, and running for delegate gives you the opportunity to be a part of something historic. Run for delegate and stand with your fellow Democrats from around the country.
Please feel free to e-mail us or call our office at (334) 262-2221 if you have any questions. For those of you who choose to run and are elected, I look forward to seeing you in Charlotte.
Sincerely,
Mark Kennedy
