Volunteer in Montgomery Tomorrow!
We have a volunteer opportunity in Montgomery tomorrow at our headquarters on Adams Avenue. Join us all day for some good music and good fun with your fellow river region Democrats as we do some preparation for our upcoming winter dinner! You can swing by any time between 10AM and 7PM to lend a hand. Just shoot us an e-mail or give us a call at (334) 262-2221 to let us know you're coming by!

President Obama Announces New Assistance for Students
President Obama's plan would speed up a measure passed by Congress reducing the maximum payment students are required to make each year, and would allow remaining debt to be forgiven five years earlier. The President's plan would also allow borrows to consolidate different federal student loans for a lower interest rate. The programs could help more than six million students.

Canvass at the Magic City Classic This Weekend
Join volunteers from around Birmingham at the Magic City Classic parade for a great weekend of canvassing.We will meet at the Obama for America HQ at 2201 1st Avenue North, then be assigned sections of the parade route to collect "I'm in" cards for the President, recruit volunteers and register new voters. Be sure to stick around for the open house if you haven't had a chance to visit their new headquarters!

Lawrence County Democrats to Host Education Summit
On November 10, 2011, the Lawrence County Democratic Party will host a public forum to address the state of schools in Lawrence County. Superintendent of Education, Heath Grimes will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited to participate in an open discussion concerning the current educational programs, as well as, share your vision for ways to improve the educational system, while dealing with limited financial resources. The Education Summit will be held at the Lawrence County High School Auditorium at 6:00 pm. This event is open to all Lawrence County parents, students, teachers and concerned individuals.

Cleburne County Democrats October Meeting

The Democratic Executive Committee of Cleburne County has scheduled its October meeting for Thursday evening, October 27 2011. Refreshments will be available during our business meeting. The meeting will begin @ 6:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the Heflin Arts Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
