Alabama Senators Vote Against Protecting Thousands of Teacher Jobs
Senators Shelby and Sessions voted against the American Jobs Act this week, even though it would have invested more than $500 million in our state infrastructure, nearly $400 million in refurbishing our schools, and could have saved or created thousands of construction and education jobs across the state. Even the Republican chairman of our state transportation committee agreed the bill could put thousands of Alabamians back to work on critical road rebuilding projects. Call our Senators today to let them know we need real leaders in Washington that won't vote against putting Alabamians back to work.

Former County Commissioner and Loyal St. Clair Democrat J.B. Walters Passes Away
Judge Kennedy: "Mr. Walters was a loyal Democrat and a dedicated public servant. As a former county commissioner and a former county party vice-chair, he devoted much of his life to working to make St. Clair County a better place for his constituents. His dedication to the principles that made our party great is deeply appreciated, and Mr. Walters will be sorely missed both in St. Clair and by his friends around the state."

White House Denounces GOP Voter ID Laws
From President Obama: "I will say that my big priority is making sure that as many people are participating in our democracy as possible. Some of these moves in some of the other states that we’ve seen try to make it tougher to vote, restricting ballot access, making it hard on seniors, making it hard on young people. I think that’s a big mistake, and I have made sure that our Justice Department is taking a look at what’s being done across the country to ensure that people aren’t being denied access to the franchise."
