Volunteer Today to Call for Paige Parnell
We have an important special election coming up in Birmingham this month, and we want to make sure every Democrat is able to help send our Democratic nominee Paige Parnell to the State House next session. You can do your part by donating to her campaign or signing up today to volunteer by making phone calls from home. Every call counts and we need another great Democrat like Paige to bring us one step closer to ending the Republican supermajority. Sign up today to do your part!
Congressman Mike Rogers Calls President Obama 'Boy'
To say that Congressman Rogers needs a remedial lesson in American history seems to be something of an understatement. But if he is unable to pick up a summer school class during his next Congressional recess, he should at least apologize for his insensitive addressing of our President as ‘boy,’ and to all of America’s farmers for suggesting the work they do to put food on our tables is a laughable part of a Presidential resume.
Opelika-Auburn News: Rogers Needs to Apologize for 'ol' boy' Quip
Surely he agrees that presidents of the United States, whether they are named Washington, Fillmore, Lincoln, Cleveland, Roosevelt, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Obama – yes, Obama – or anything else, are entitled to a certain amount of respect that derives from the office they hold. He doesn’t have to agree with the president, but as someone who represents all of the 3rd congressional district of Alabama, he needs to show a little respect. He needs to set a better example for our young people.
Martha Roby and Mo Brooks Vote to Default on Debt
“When most people default on their mortgage, they get kicked out of their houses,” said Judge Mark Kennedy, Chairman of the Alabama Democrats. “If any of our Representatives are willing to default on the country’s mortgage just to cozy up to some tea party fringe, I think they should get kicked out of the House next November.”
Alabama Democrats Commend GOP Congressmen for Turning Away from Tea Party Fringe on Debt
Alabama Democrats lauded the Alabama Republicans who chose to vote with Democrats and Republican leadership on the debt ceiling compromise orchestrated by President Obama and Speaker John Boehner (R - OH). This critical decision calls for more than $1 trillion in responsible budget cuts, helping to address the federal deficit and place the United States on sounder financial footing.
