Kennedy Family Announces Alabama Flag Project
“We commend the Governor for his decision to change this incredibly insensitive policy,” said Judge Kennedy. “But as the proud parents of a soldier currently serving our country in Afghanistan, we would like to do what we can as well to ensure every soldier who requests a flag is able to receive one.” The Kennedys are requesting that Alabamians send donations of flags and funds for postage to the Alabama Flag Project, PO Box 5202, Montgomery 36103.

Alabama Democrats Commend Judge Robinson for Years of Service
St. Clair County Circuit Court Judge Charles Robinson retired this week after serving the people of St. Clair County on the court for more than ten years. A lifelong Democrat, Judge Robinson is a third-generation St. Clair County lawyer and began practicing in 1965. We will miss his leadership and wisdom on the bench. He was honored with a reception earlier this week, and you can check out photos on our facebook page.
Senator Linda Coleman Tapped for Leadership Position in National Order of Women Legislators
Senator Linda Coleman of Birmingham was recently elected to a leadership position in the National Order of Women Legislators, the nation’s oldest organization addressing the needs of elected women at all levels of government. She will serve as the Alternate NOWL Representative to the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) Board.
Rally in Birmingham Against HB56
Earlier this week US District Judge Sharon Blackburn issued a temporary hold against the irresponsible and costly immigration bill the Republicans rushed through this year. Join the Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice at The Rally for Alabama's Future today at Linn Park in Birmingham at 5:30PM to help make it clear this law needs to be on hold for good. The rally will be hosted by Sharrif Simmons, and speakers will include Birmingham Mayor William Bell, as well as other elected officials and civil right leaders.
Kennedy-King Dinner a Big Success
The College Democrats held their first-ever Kennedy-King Dinner last Saturday in Birmingham, and the event was a big success. The College Dems hosted Georgia General Assembly Minority Leader Representative Stacey Abrams who gave a fantastic and inspiring speech to help get us fired up for next year. The College Dems also recently announced the addition of an eleventh official chapter, welcoming the Jones Law School College Democrats to the organization just this week.
White House Internship Program Deadline Next Week
A White House Internship provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable professional experience and build leadership skills. This hands-on program is designed to mentor and cultivate today’s young leaders, strengthen their understanding of the Executive Office of the President and prepare them for future public service involvement.
