Attend A Redistricting Hearing in Your Area - Make Sure We Have A Voice!
Public hearings on the redistricting of our House and Senate will begin next week, and it's critical that we attend the meetings in our area to ensure we have a voice in this important process. Help raise awareness in your community by inviting your friends and neighbors to the hearing in your area. Redistricting should be about people, not politics. You can check out our redistricting fact sheet to learn more about the process and important questions to ask at your hearing next week.
GOP A No-Show at Immigration Debate
Last week Judge Kennedy traveled to Birmingham for a forum on the immigration bill Republicans rammed through the state legislature this year. The forum was a great success, with one notable exception - no one from the Republican Party was willing to show up to defend the bill! They don't have any problem calling their own elected officials lazy in the press, but when it comes to discussing the dangerous impact this bill could have on our state, not one Republican was willing to face Judge Kennedy in a debate.
We're working harder than we ever have to make sure the Republicans don't get a free pass on their devastating agenda, but we need your help. Sign up today to become a monthly donor so we can continue to push back on the GOP in the press and at the polls.
From Judge Kennedy: Republicans Cowed By Scott Beason
Despite repeatedly dragging Alabama into the national spotlight for his embarrassing and racially inflammatory remarks, Scott Beason (R — Gardendale) has been allowed to retain his position as Chairman of the powerful Senate Rules Committee by his fellow Republicans in the Senate caucus. If the Republican caucus doesn’t have the fortitude to take him to task over this, I can only wonder what else that wire recorded them saying. I wonder if we’ll ever get to hear those tapes.
Ask Rep. Mike Rogers to Support the Buffett Rule in Montgomery This Friday
Warren Buffett is right -- the super-rich like Millionaire Mike Rogers and his friends have been coddled by Congress for too long. President Obama wants to make sure we stop trying to run our government on the backs of the middle class by ensuring the top two percent of wealthy Americans are paying the same taxes as the rest of us. Join us at 7550 Halcyon Summit Drive in Montgomery this Friday at noon to ask Rep. Rogers to support the Buffett Rule and making sure billionaires pay their fair share.
