Shelby Puts Wall Street Before Main Street
In an effort to water down the authority of the new consumer protection bureau established by the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2009, Senator Richard Shelby has threatened to block any nominee to head up the agency — no matter how qualified. Senator Shelby won’t be happy until big Wall Street interests can get back to the kind of irresponsible banking practices that led to the collapse of banks like AIG and Lehman Brothers. Maybe when Alabamians can donate the kind of money Shelby has gotten from the finance industry he’ll decide to make Main Street a priority too.

Judge Kennedy Welcomes Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz to Alabama
Congresswoman Terri Sewell and the Alabama Democratic Party were proud to host Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, our Democratic National Committee Chairwoman, in Birmingham last week. Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz is traveling the nation to learn what state parties and the DNC can do to better coordinate our efforts for local Democrats as we head into election season. It was a great visit and we look forward to more closely with the DNC so we can help them keep building the kind of grassroots Democratic party we're committed to building right here at home.
