Cleburne County Democrats to Host Lilly Ledbetter
The Cleburne County Democratic Executive Committee will host Lilly Ledbetter at their August 25th meeting at the Heflin Arts Center. Ms. Ledbetter is a passionate Democrat with an incredible story to tell, so be sure to join the Cleburne Democrats in Heflin to hear her speak and get inspired.
Mobile County Opens Headquarters
The Mobile County Democrats had a great training session with Executive Director Bradley Davidson earlier this week, hosted at their brand new headquarters in downtown Mobile. The Headquarters will be available for use to local Democratic organizations for phone banks. The Mobile County Dems will host a Grand Opening event for the new office on September 5th, after the Labor Day parade.
Longtime St. Clair County Judge to Retire
Judge Charles Robinson of St. Clair County recently announced his retirement. Judge Robinson has admirably served the county of St. Clair for ten years, and previously served as the St. Clair and Blount County district attorney. Judge Robinson has dedicated much of his time as a public servant to helping rehabilitate young people through programs such as Teen Challenge and the Salvation Army. He is a great Democrat and we commend him for his leadership during his time in office.
College Dems President Named to National Position
Congratulations to Auburn College Democrats President and Alabama State Federation of College Democrats President, Beth Clayton, on being named the Southeast Regional Director of College Democrats of America! Beth and the College Dems have done some great work on getting organized on campuses across the state - be sure to follow them on facebook and check out our website for how you can get involved!
Elmore County Democrats Support Local Disaster Relief Efforts
The Elmore County Democrats (chairman Tom Brown, pictured right) recently met with District Judge Glenn Goggans (pictured, left) to present a donation for the Elmore County Disaster Relief Fund. The Fund, set up to collect donations in the wake of the April 27 tornado that touched down near Eclectic, has helped more than 100 families get on the road to recovery.

Alabama House Minority Leader Craig Ford, D-Gadsden, will serve as guest speaker at a meeting of the Shoals Democratic Club on Monday, August 15, 6:30 p.m. at the Steelworkers’ Union Hall located at the intersection of Wilson Dam Road and Avalon Avenue in Muscle Shoals. A light meal will be served at 6:00 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.

Shoals Democratic Party Annual Golf Tourmanet

The Shoals Democratic Party Annual Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, September 17 at the Blackberry Trail Golf Course in Florence, Alabama. This is a 4 player scramble open to men and women. There will be a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. Entry fee is $50 per player. In addition to team prizes, there will also be prizes for the longest drive and closest to the pin.
